FAIR LAWN, NJ - The Fair Lawn Police Department is accepting applications to its 2020 Citizen Police Academy.
The academy was formed to provide insight into the operations of the Fair Lawn Police. Free of charge and open to Fair Lawn residents, the academy will be held on Thursday evenings, beginning on February 6. The academy will include classes about gang awareness, firearm awareness and safety, self-defense, Internet safety, fraud awareness and investigations, response to active attacks, drug awareness, crime prevention and traffic safety.
The academy class will also become familiarized with the different emergency services in Fair Lawn, will see demonstrations by the Bergen County Sheriff’s Department’s Bomb Squad and K-9 Units, along with the Bergen County SWAT Team and will receive tours of municipal & county facilities.
The class is limited to 24 students and background investigations will be conducted before an applicant is accepted into the academy. Applications can be picked up at Fair Lawn Police Headquarters, 8-01 Fair Lawn Avenue.
