GLEN ROCK, NJ - Camp registration is underway for summer programs of the Glen Rock Community School. Children from preschool to high school will find something special to fill those long summer days ahead.
Day Camps – Busy Bee, for grades 1-5, and Jr. Busy Bee, for incoming kindergartners, are all-inclusive day camps that offer a wide variety of games, sports, arts and crafts, swim lessons and weekly field trips. For the convenience of working families, Before and After Camp Care for both Busy Bee camps is available Monday-Friday, 7-9 a.m. and 4-6 p.m.
Preschool Programs – Play Camp introduces the youngest campers to their first camp experience. Children ages 3 and 4 will enjoy an age-appropriate morning of fun activities including games, crafts, music and water play.
Sports Camps – Many sports activities are on the schedule for summer, with most run by members of the GRHS coaching staff. Head Football Coach Jim Kurz is back with Rock Sports Camp, which combines some good old-fashioned games with an intro to sports like football, lacrosse, basketball and soccer. Coach Kurz is also holding a Jr. Football Camp in one-hour sessions throughout June and July.
Boys Lacrosse Head Coach Mike Escalante and Girls Lacrosse Head Coach Kyle McCourt are each launching new summer LAX programs. Rock Softball Camp returns under Head Coach Kelly Dowell and Varsity Baseball Coach Billy Crispino will oversee Rock Baseball Camp. Glen Rock Basketball Academy is back again with separate camps for boys and girls, both run by Glen Rock High School varsity basketball coaching staff. Tennis Coach Bonnie Zimmermann has planned various clinics for middle school and high school students. Head Volleyball Coach Matt Kingsley will again offer a coed camp, and theTrack and Field Camp is back after a very successful launch last summer by Coach Gallo and Coach McCarten.
Performing Arts – Five Corners Theatre Company, now in its 10th year, returns with both a Musical Theatre Camp and a Broadway Production Experience. Summer Ballet School is in its 38th year of keeping ballet students on their toes. Private instrument lessons are again being offered by certified music teacher John Diomede to help elementary students keep their musical skills sharp over the summer.
Brain Games – The Brain Games offered through GRCS are all taught by certificated educators. The popular STEM Camp returns for another exciting and stimulating season in the state-of-the-art GRHS STEM Wing. Reader’s Clubhouse invites students at all reading levels to share their love of literature. Young Authors will enjoy creating narrative writing pieces. Math Enrichment will help students entering grades 6-9 prepare for a successful transition to middle and high school mathematics.
Middle School Success focuses on students entering grade 6 in the fall, and Study Skills will help those entering grades 5-8 get ready to hit the new school year armed with improved organizational skills. Returning this summer is Rock Solid: Reading Foundations. This program for students entering grades 1-2 will focus on providing support for children who need assistance with vocabulary, fluency, and comprehension. Crushing Your College Essay returns for a week-long immersion into writing and perfecting that all-important step to college acceptance.

Interested families can visit www.grcsonline.com and click on the camp page to view a complete description of all camps, including camper ages, dates, times, locations and fees. The site also provides a link to Community Pass to access existing accounts or establish a new one for registration. Assistance is also available Monday through Friday, 8:30 a.m.-3:30 p.m. at 201-389-5011 or at the community school office in the Hamilton lobby of GRHS.
