RIDGEWOOD, NJ – At a sold-out event, members of the Jewish Community Center of Northern New Jersey (JCCNNJ) learned to cook latkes with recipes from Syria, Italy and India, providing tastes of Jewish traditions from around the world.
The recipes, authored by Chef Jennifer Abadi, represented the Sephardic traditions that Chef Abadi works to preserve and share with today’s Jewish communities.
On Dec. 5, participants created their assigned recipes at their cooking stations, fried up their latkes, then sat together to taste their creations while listening to Chef Abadi’s stories. The event, held at Ridgewood Culinary Studio, is just one of many ways JCCNNJ is creating special moments of Jewish engagement within the community.
