FAIR LAWN, NJ - Memorial Pool is up and operating, although in a more limited fashion than in years past thanks to COVID-19.
"I can't thank the staff enough," Mayor Kurt Peluso said at the July 14 Council meeting. "People are thrilled to be there. Thanks to the lifeguards, too, they've been terrific."
Families were at the pool right until closure, 7 p.m., this week during the heat wave where temperatures reached 90 degrees every day.
The pool opened on July 6 with reduced hours from a normal year: 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. Weekend hours operate on odd/even household address guidelines to keep the numbers down at the pool complex during the pandemic.
The borough released a section in it "Splash" pool newsletter outlining what staff is doing to keep the pool disinfected and how the public should expect the enforcement of social distancing.
Memberships can be purchased throughout the season in the Community Center Gymnasium, Sunday to Saturday: 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, pool membership purchases will not be offered at the Memorial Pool Administration Office Trailer this year. All purchases will be held in the Gymnasium of the Community Center.
The pool will be open daily, weather permitting, through Sept. 7.
