FAIR LAWN, NJ - There will be swimming at Memorial Pool this summer!
While the opening date has changed to Monday, July 6 to accommodate preparing the pool in the age of coronavirus, there was little doubt the pool would open this year as long as the state opened per Governor Phil Murphy's guidelines.
"There are many variables in operating a pool facility of our size and the Borough’s core values have always included public safety as our top priority," read a borough email distributed this morning.
"Our Recreation, Parks, Public Works and Pool employees are hard at work making all the necessary preparations to optimize safety and public health including but not limited to inspections, testing, staff training, and of course all the changes and requirements related to COVID-19, including newly required signage and other protocols. The Borough will continue to follow the guidelines set forth by the State and the CDC and updates and changes will be made if necessary."
The finalized opening date, along with the details of pre-season sale dates, pool operating hours, policies, rules and regulations will be posted on TAPinto.
Borough officials noted that during the filling of Memorial Pool, which is scheduled to commence on Friday, June 19, residents in the surrounding area of the Pool may experience some discoloration of their water. This is expected and a normal occurrence when the Pool is filled.
If residents experience this, the borough said caution should be used in washing white clothes; however, the discoloration poses no health hazard and the water is safe for consumption. Allow the water to run from the tap until it clears.
