GLEN ROCK, NJ - The 125 Committee of Glen Rock is preparing for Borough’s Quasquicentennial Anniversary on Saturday, September 14, and there are plenty of activities for the children.
The day begins at 8:30 a.m. on Doremus Avenue with the check-in at 9 a.m. for the fun run, children 12 years old and under, sponsored by the Glen Rock Jaycees. Kids will run from the Glen Rock Pool parking lot to the famous Rock and back. Participants will receive a commemorative medal for their participation.
Along with other activities, including a rededication of the Rock at 10 a.m., there is more for families and kids to look forward to.
During the day, families are invited to wander around town completing a Glen Rock scavenger hunt (packets available 1:00-6:00 p.m. at Wilde Memorial Park skating rink). Don't forget to stop by the sidewalk sale hosted by merchants during their regular business hours.
The party really begins at Wilde Memorial Park at 1 p.m. at the Glen Rock Quasquicentennial Celebration Festival. The festival features food, craft vendors, community organizations, artwork, children’s activities and performers, live music and a pie eating contest.
Residents should be sure to check in at the gate for special giveaways for every Glen Rocker.
Musical acts include the Suburbanites, Voltage, Route 80 and NY State of Mind.
In the children’s area from 1:30 - 2:30 p.m., Zak Magic will be hosting a dance party, culminating in a magic show from 2:30 - 3 p.m.
From 3 - 4 p.m., kids are invited to decorate their bikes and participate in the Quasquicentennial Bike Decorating Contest. Officer Matt Stanislao will be running a Kids’ Bicycle Obstacle Course, as well as a Kids’ Bike Parade around the path of Wilde Memorial at 4 p.m.
Festivities conclude at 7 p.m. The event is rain or shine.
