GLEN ROCK, NJ - The day has been planned for months and interest has been brewing for just as long: it's Holiday Hoopla with Glen Rock the Holidays musical evening event beginning at 5:30 p.m., Dec. 7.

"We're thrilled at the community excitement for this event," said Kerry Schmitt, Glen Rock Holiday Committee member. "The first-ever Rock the Holiday concert is sold out."

The event is free and part of the Dec. 7 Glen Rock Home for the Holidays events which begins in the morning with Wreaths Across America, moves to the Holiday Hoopla in the heated tent at 11 a.m. on the Borough Hall municipal lot where local crafters will offer items for sale, and continues to the tree lighting at the Exxon Station on Rock Road next to Kilroy's Wonder Market at approximately 4:30 p.m.

The evening music event, which required sign-up through Eventbrite, reached capacity and now is taking names on a waitlist.

"The tent will be set up similar to a bar/restaurant with chairs and tables," Schmitt said. "Space is limited and people are expected to mingle and dance!"

Guests are welcome to bring their own beer, wine and food. No items will be sold in the tent, but local deliveries can be received.

"Because of the favorable response, we really don't want to turn people away, but we do have to be mindful of crowd limits within the tent," Schmitt said.

Ticket holders are asked to arrive no later than 6:15 p.m. At that time, waitlist individuals will be allowed into the tent. There will be tables outside the tent for people who want to bundle up and sit outside.

"The best part is we have hometown bands that will be providing our entertainment," Schmitt said. "The committee could not have provided this event without the generosity of the bands "Winter Wrecking Crew" and "Rock Road", and as of late last week, we will now enjoy a special set by "Re-Born"."

The committee is looking for additional volunteers for the day, from 10:30 a.m. to 9 p.m. Email to help out. High school students will receive service hours.
