HACKENSACK, NJ - Although the Office of the Bergen County Clerk remains closed to the public because of the ongoing threat of COVID-19, staff has continued to carry out some of its regular functions.
A small number of essential employees are working out of the office on a rotational basis while others are working from home on laptops.
Here is an update concerning what the office has been able to accomplish under these challenging conditions:
- REGISTRY DIVISION: During the past two weeks 3,514 land record documents (deeds, mortgages, notice of settlements, liens etc.) were processed.
- LAND RECORDS MANAGEMENT DIVISION: This division has remained operational on a very limited, controlled basis for title searchers.
- ELECTIONS DIVISION: Employees are rotating their days, allowing the division to remain functional as we prepare for the May 12th combined School (Cliffside Park, Fairview, Garfield, Hackensack, Oakland, Ridgewood) and Municipal Elections (Ridgefield Park, Ridgewood, Teaneck), which Governor Murphy has directed to be Vote-By-Mail Elections only. Every registered voter in these towns will automatically have a ballot mailed to them. Also, per the Governor’s directive, postage-paid envelopes will be included to return completed ballots.
- In addition, the division is compiling the names of all candidates who filed to run for office in the June Primary Election. The official drawing for ballot position will occur on April 9 at 3 pm in the Elections Division of the Office of the Bergen County Clerk. The drawing will be available to the public on Zoom Video Conferencing.
PASSPORT/COUNTER DIVISION: Unfortunately, this division remains closed to the public.
