GLEN ROCK, NJ - Glen Rock High School has announced Andrew Martin as its November Citizen of the Month.

For the second year in a row, Martin, Class of 2021, mobilized the students of Glen Rock to write letters of thanks to U.S. servicemen and women during the Thanksgiving season.

Last year, Andrew Martin and his older brother, John, a member of the Class of 2019, worked through the English Department and invited the entire high school to participate in the 100,000 Thank-You Letters program sponsored by The Ty Bentli Radio Show, FM 103.3, in Nashville, TN.

This year, he, along with his younger sister, Libby in Grade 8, expanded the program to include students in the middle and elementary schools. While last year’s very successful letter-writing campaign amassed 440 letters to be sent to servicemen and women deployed overseas, this year’s greatly expanded effort resulted in 1,357 letters and/or cards being written.

"Congratulations to both students for organizing this worthwhile activity," school officials said. "For his selfless interest in helping others, this junior student is recognized as Glen Rock High School’s Citizen of the Month for November 2019."
