GLEN ROCK, NJ - The Glen Rock Board of Education appointed Dr. Michael Parent as the Glen Rock Middle/High School Principal for the 2020-2021 school year. Dr. Parent will replace Middle School Assistant Principal Dr. Jennifer Wirt who is leaving the district, and High School Principal John Arlotta who is retiring.
“I look forward to working with Dr. Charleston and the administrative team to build strong relationships with the students, the faculty, and the community. I’ve been entrusted to guide and direct Glen Rock Middle School and High School into the future, one that is collaborative, focused on growth and innovation, and is culturally healthy for both students and staff," Dr. Parent said. "These emphases have been at the forefront of my professional career and will remain so as I begin my service to Glen Rock.”
Dr. Parent, who will begin his new role on July 1, 2020, comes to the Glen Rock Public School district having recently served as the Principal of Passaic County Technical Institute for eight years. Prior to leading PCTI, he first served as assistant principal and then principal of Dumont High School for four years. He is experienced as a supervisor, and began his professional career in education as a Language Arts teacher.
The middle and high school principal positions were combined for the 2020-2021 academic year as part of a restructuring approved by the Board of Education. This newly combined position will require equal attention to and development of two schools.
“My role with the faculty is to collaboratively develop synergy and organization between two distinct units – the middle school faculty and the high school faculty. I have faced this same challenge with success at PCTI; bridging two very different groups of instructors (academic and CTE) and fostering collaboration and mutual aims was paramount to cultivating the school’s growth-minded culture,” Dr. Parent said.
The new middle/high school principal position will have the support of the Middle School Assistant Principal, Brian Pepe, and High School Assistant Principal, Tina Bacolas.
