GLEN ROCK, NJ - The Glen Rock Board of Education will vote on terminating 32 employees of its Community School program because it has ceased operation during the coronavirus epidemic.
The virtual special meeting is scheduled to take place on March 31 at 5 p.m.
The BOE is required to give employees 30 days notice which will make the termination effective date May 1.
According to language in the agenda, the Community School has ceased operations of its programs due to the state of emergency. The district is required to give its employees thirty-day notice of termination. With the school required to be closed, parents are not paying tuition for the programs, therefore it is not receiving revenue used to offset staff salaries.
The Community School runs before and after care programs, in addition to educational summer camp programs, among others, and operates under the auspices of the Board of Education.
President Donald Trump said on Sunday he does not envision lifting social distancing and encouragement of state business closures before April 30.
