GLEN ROCK, NJ - Glen Rock Public Schools will close at the end of the day today and remain closed through March 27, according to district officials. Its online learning plan will commence on Tuesday, March 17.

The decision to close came from Bergen County Executive James Tedesco, which means all schools in Bergen County will be shut down through March 27.

School will be closed on Monday, March 16 for students to provide staff an additional day of preparation, school officials said.

Glen Rock COVID-19 Updates 

The bell schedules for our schools during this closure will be as follows: 

• Glen Rock High School will follow the normal bell schedule - 7:50 am - 2:54 pm 

• Glen Rock Middle School schedule will be 7:50 am - 12:26 pm. Students will follow their normal schedule as they would on a 1/2 day. Teachers will make themselves available to answer student questions until 3:00 pm. 

• Glen Rock Elementary Schools will provide 4 hours of work for students. Teachers will monitor student progress, provide feedback, and answer questions between 8:30 am - 3:30 pm. 

Although schools are closed, Glen Rock Schools is prepared to provide meaningful instruction. As long as students are healthy, it is the expectation that students will be engaged and complete all assigned academic work. Attendance will be taken daily at all schools. In addition, the High School and Middle School will take attendance by period as well. Please contact your child’s teacher if you have any questions.

Athletics, field trips, BOE approved professional development, and all extracurricular activities will be canceled for the duration of the school closure unless otherwise directed by the NJDOH, NJDOE, and/or the NJSIAA.

All Community School preschool classes, before and after care, enrichment day and evening classes are canceled as well. Essentially, all school buildings will be closed through March 27, 2020. Parents and students will not have access to the buildings after 7 pm tonight. Please have your child bring home any books, supplies and technology which are needed. 

During this closure, please contact your child’s principal should you have any questions or need support. We are here to help. It is important to recognize that this is a worldwide health emergency. Be safe and take care of each other - we will get through this together.
