FAIR LAWN, NJ – Nine candidates are vying for three Fair Lawn Board of Education seats in the November election.
The Fair Lawn Board of Education has a nine-member board. Each term of service per board member is three years.
Incumbents Mary Wallace, Michael Rosenberg and Cindy Jo Quackenbush are running on the “For All Children” ticket.
David Tratnor, Neha Kapor Baxi and Lisa MacClements are running on the “Parents for Fair Lawn Board of Education” ticket.
And three independent individuals are running on their own, unconnected by a team: Vladimir Itkin (Parents for Education), Rita Fayvelevich and Humza Yousuf (A Student’s Voice).
On the Fair Lawn BOE website, its role is defined as follows: "Contrary to popular belief, the Board of Education (BOE) does not run the Fair Lawn School District. Our role is to ensure that the district is well run through the creation and updating of policies. These policies serve as a guide to the superintendent and provide direction, a basis for decision-making, and an imperative for action."
