My friends and neighbors,
This weekend, as we celebrate July 4th, I want to wish you all a happy and healthy Independence Day.
We could not have predicted all that we have gone through this year — from the unexpected virus of COVID-19 to the unpredictable ways so many of us have responded. We banded together to make it through as a stronger community.
I have been encouraged by so many of you who stop to say hello when you pick up your meals or call for delivery. Many of us small business owners didn’t know what to expect. We just knew that we wanted to keep serving you as long as you would have us.
You have made a point to keep in touch with each other, even when you couldn’t get out of the house. I look at the displays of love and friendship that have emerged during our lockdown and see an unexpected benefit. In many ways, it has made us closer.
I think that is the American spirit that we celebrate this weekend.
For 244 years, no matter what challenges or hardships came our way, we always overcame. We always persevered.
This Independence Day, we are a stronger country for all that we have experienced. I’m not sure what the last half of 2020 has in store for us, but I’d rather go through it here than anywhere else.
Thank you for your support and most of all, your friendship.
Happy Independence Day!
