FAIR LAWN, NJ - The Girl Scouts of Northern New Jersey Troops 96841, 97655, 97888, including Fair Lawn Scouts, hosted a World Thinking Day Event at Fair Lawn High School.
World Thinking Day, which is annually held on February 22, has a different theme each year. This year’s theme was “Diversity, Equity and Inclusion”. As part of the World Thinking Day celebration, the girls were encouraged to do a take action project.
Troops 96841, 97655, 97888 partnered with the Center for Food Action to pack weekend lunch kits. More than 125 girls attended the event on Friday, February 28 to pack 350 lunch kits for hungry children of Bergen County. Children all over Bergen County can get lunch during the school week but when they go home on the weekend, they go hungry.
These Fair Lawn Girls Scouts troops collected donations from within the Fair Lawn Service Unit to buy the food and had their fellow Girl Scouts attend the event. They created an assembly line to pack milk, juice, snacks, cereal, and more in nutritious lunch kits. There were girls of all age groups volunteering their time to pack the lunch kits at the Fair Lawn High School.
