FAIR LAWN, NJ - Resident Wilkin Santana has set up a GoFundMe page to assist Fair Lawn's first responders during the coronavirus pandemic.
Along with a team of friends, Santana pulled together the page which has raised $1,122 by midday, March 30. They have a goal of $6,000.
Santana's team includes Joe Nasso, Leon Granovsky, Stephen Janiszak and Isak Gurevich.
"Many of you have asked, what can we do to help those who are sacrificing themselves during this health crisis?" Santana said on the GoFundMe page. "Fair Lawn volunteer first responders are sacrificing being away from their children and families during this COVID-19 Coronavirus crisis to keep us safe. Many Fair Lawn volunteer first responders (fire, ambulance, and rescue) cannot attend to their children and families while protecting and serving our community."
Santana, a Fair Lawn Board of Eduction trustee, asked residents to donate what they can afford, and pledged to give a check to fire, ambulance and rescue, equally divided, with intentions to use the funds for supermarket gift cards, water bottles for the facilities, food, and personal protection equipment to protect them from COVID-19.
"Let’s build an avalanche of kindness for our Fair Lawn volunteer first responders today," Santana said.
