FAIR LAWN, NJ - March is officially Brandon Higgins Month in Fair Lawn.

Through the efforts of Deputy Mayor of Community Affairs John Cosgrove and the Fair Lawn Sunrise Rotary, Brandon is progressing along toward his family's goal of getting him a van.

Brandon's family needs a specialized medical van for Brandon, a survivor of brain cancer, in order to transport him as a member of the family to various events.

A "Tricky Tray Dinner for Brandon Higgins" is the next event scheduled for 7 p.m. April 4 at the Brownstone in Paterson. Local comedian Eric Lyden is performing, as well as DJ Hollywood Bill who will provide his well-known musical flair to the event. Tickets are available online at http://www.helpunitedabc.com/ . United Realty and the Fair Lawn Sunrise Rotary are sponsoring the event.

Last June, Lyden performed a comedy show at the Fair Lawn Community Center for the same cause. All the proceeds were donated through Sunrise Rotary to Brandon's van fund.

Brandon was born and raised in Fair Lawn and is a 23-year survivor of brain cancer. His victorious fight, though, has left him without the ability to eat or stand on his own. He has lost the ability to speak, as well. Naturally, there is an exorbitant cost involved in getting around the same streets of Fair Lawn where Brandon once walked, ran and rode his bike as a child.

In an episode of "Inside Fair Lawn with Wayne Robbins," videographer Wayne Robbins charts the events to raise money for the van. https://www.facebook.com/way.robbins/videos/2071698813139867/
