GLEN ROCK, NJ – The Borough Council approved the position of a part-time crossing guard manager to assist with the administration load on the police during the school year.
The Council approved the position at the July 24 council meeting at a cost of $20,000 annually.
“This will help with scheduling, organizing and maintaining records,” Councilwoman Mary Bachetto said. “The manager will operate under the auspices of the Police Department.”
Barchetto said the Borough is “looking to hire with the pool of current crossing guards.”
There are approximately 20 crossing guards currently. Adult school crossing guards were first established in Glen Rock during the early 1950s to help children safely cross the street at key locations.
