GLEN ROCK, NJ - Candidate Michelle Torpey became Councilwoman Torpey last night when the Borough Council chose her as the replacement for Bill Leonard.

Torpey, a republican, replaced Leonard who stepped down as councilman after his June wedding and subsequent move out of town.

Torpey will serve out Leonard's term, which ends in December. She is running for council on the republican ticket in November with Sanjiv Ohri, mayoral candidate, and Eric Schlett. Torpey ran unsuccessfully for council two years ago.

The mayoral position and two council seats are open at the end of the year. Republicans are challenged by the demoratic ticket of Kristine Morieko, current council president who is running for mayor, and Rob Dill and Teresa Gilbreath for council.
