GLEN ROCK, NJ – The Glen Rock Environmental Commission was awarded a $2,000 Sustainable Jersey capacity-building grant funded by the PSEG Foundation.

The grant will provide partial funding to update the borough Environmental Resource Inventory (ERI), also called Natural Resource Inventory (NRI). The ERI is an inventory of the Borough’s natural assets and environmental resources, and was first completed in 2009 by GREC and the borough planner. Built on the ERI, the GREC developed a Conservation Plan Element which policy guidance and recommendations for the preservation, conservation, and utilization of Glen Rock’s natural resources.

The Sustainable Jersey/PSEG award can fund a range of projects including green infrastructure, food waste composting education, single-use plastic reduction campaigns, community gardens, a farmers market, environmental resource inventories, a diversity discussion series, green team capacity building and more.

“By updating the ERI and the Conservation Element, the borough can continue to implement policies that can effectively improve the conservation of the precious resources of the Borough," Sylvia Rabacchi, GREC co-chair, said. "Once the ERI update is completed in the next 6-10 months, we will make it available and solicit feedback from the GR residents.”
