GLEN ROCK, NJ - The Glen Rock Environmental Commission’s third annual Community Clean-Up was twice as big as last year's, with more than 200 volunteers participating. The Community Clean-Up, held on April 27, is an annual event held to remove litter from several public spaces around town.
In addition to beautifying the town and spending a fun afternoon with their neighbors in one of eight locations, volunteers had the opportunity to win prizes for the most unique items. So far, the entries include a $20 Canadian bill and a basketball hoop.
Councilperson Arati Kreibich, the GREC liaison, spearheaded the clean-up and made one major change this year.
“For the first time this year, the volunteers tracked the types and amounts of trash they picked up at the various locations. Knowing what kinds of trash accumulates where can help us figure out potential solutions to help," she said. "And comparing these results next year will help us figure out how successful we are.”
The next Community Clean-Up is tentatively scheduled for the last Saturday in April 2020.
