GLEN ROCK, NJ - If you have not already picked-up your borough reusable bag, borough officials are reminding residents there are still free bags available at borough hall.
On January 1, the "Single-use bag reduction" ordinance passed in 2019 went into effect. The borough's bag is large enough for grocery shopping, but light enough to use at the local pharmacy.
Bags are available for pick up while supplies last from the first floor window at Borough Hall, 1 Harding Plaza, Monday through Friday, 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.
Fair Lawn's Borough Council is currently thinking about a similar ban, according to Deputy Mayor of Community Affairs Gail Rottenstrich. According to online news reports, Ridgewood, Paramus, Saddle Brook and Garfield currently have similar bans in effect.
