Today we say "thank you" to Jeannie Castells, who for the last six years has used her voice in the fight to end Alzheimer’s. A former caregiver, Jeannie knows firsthand the devastation Alzheimer’s has on families, and it is why she has dedicated so much of her time to advocate for families like hers.
The Alzheimer's Association Greater New Jersey Chapter, the leading volunteer-driven voluntary health organization in Alzheimer's care, support, advocacy and research is spotlighting people who make a difference in the fight to end Alzheimer's and all other dementia especially now during National Volunteer Week.
A steadfast advocate, Jeannie serves as Ambassador to Rep. Tom Malinowski (D-NJ-07), is an Alzheimer’s Congressional Team (ACT) member for Rep. Bill Pascrell (D-NJ-09), is a state champion for Assemblyman Daniel Benson (D-NJ-14), and is a member of the Alzheimer’s Impact Movement (AIM) Leadership Society.
Jeannie speaks at Congressional town hall meetings and engages elected officials on social media and through local media. Her efforts have led to policymaker action. When Rep. Malinowski was elected, she was quick to make an introduction and ensure Alzheimer’s was a top priority, meeting with him prior to him officially taking office.
Her commitment to the cause extends beyond the halls of Congress. Jeannie has raised awareness participating in the Walk To End Alzheimer’s and The Longest Day, and she even created a podcast to share her story.
