FAIR LAWN, NJ – Milnes held its annual VIP Reading Day, one of the many activities of the week to celebrate Read Across America in Fair Lawn schools.

Guest readers - Fair Lawn Board of Education trustees, administrators from Fair Lawn Schools, former teachers, Fair Lawn Mayor Kurt Peluso, a graduate of Milnes, Special 3 Officer Sean Talt, and many others participated. Borough official look forward to this event each year when they select their favorite book to read to a classroom.

Some of the selections were “One the Night You Were Born,” to “The Sneetches and Other Stories,” and “Giraffe Problems.”

Throughout the week at Milnes, students and staff celebrated a reading activity: Monday was Wear A Shirt You Can Read Day; on Tuesday, author Michael Dooling visited; Wednesday was Storybook Day; Thursday was VIP Reading Day; and Friday was Buddy Reading.

A big thank you to the PTA for organizing and volunteering at the week long Scholastic Book Fair and to the fourth- and fifth-grade escorts who accompanied the VIPs to their classrooms.
