"The live wreaths symbolize our honor to those who have served and are serving in the armed forces of our great nation and to their families who endure sacrifices everyday on our behalf," she said. "To our children, we want you to understand the freedoms you enjoy today have not been free but have come with a cost that someday, you may have to pay yourself.“

“As a nation standing together, we can defeat terrorism, hatred and injustice. Thanks to our Veterans, we have the freedom to do just that,” Hillock said.

Mike Ennis, Commander, American Legion Glen Rock Post 145, said, “Those who have given their lives can be comforted that they are not forgotten. Those that are with us can experience first hand that they are appreciated for their service to our country.”

Glen Rock is one of more than 1,200 other locations across the country which participated in Wreaths Across America (WAA) this month. Coordinated and led by local volunteers, veterans, residents and guests gathered at three of the pictured locations to place wreaths. This annual event seeks to further the WAA mission of Remember, Honor, Teach, ensuring the memory of those who served the country endures.

Glen Rock residents took turns reading the names of all Glen Rockers who served in the war and thanked then for their service to the country.

The wreaths were donated by Glen Rock Boy Scout Troop # 27.

Peter Gasiewicz, a Veteran/Marine and a member of Bugles Across America, played closing taps.
