FAIR LAWN, NJ - Fair Lawn Police swore in a new police officer and police chaplain during a ceremony held in the Borough of Fair Lawn Council Chambers today. 

Police Officer Gilot Castor, 29, had served with the Paterson Police since 2015. He is a 2011 graduate of John F. Kennedy High School in Paterson and is currently studying at Passaic County Community College. He will be assigned to the patrol division after his department familiarization training is complete.

With Castor’s hiring, the department is currently at 60 sworn officers. 

Rabbi Andrew Schultz, 41, is a resident of Fair Lawn and now a chaplain with the borough's Police Department. He holds a Bachelor of Arts in Sociology and Criminal Justice from the University of Connecticut and a Master’s Degree in public administration from Southern Connecticut State University. Schultz is currently the executive director for the Community Alliance for Jewish Cemeteries. He becomes the second volunteer police chaplain and will work alongside Pastor David Boone.
