During the period between April 6 to April 12, 2020 members of the GRPD handled 296 calls for service, the highlights of which included:
04-06-2020 - 10:27 AM – P.O. Nick Onove located a white 2019 Honda wanted by the Wayne Police Department, following a mail theft in their jurisdiction. The officer attempted to stop the vehicle on Route 208 South when the operator attempted to elude him. The pursuit continued until it approached Route 4 when speeds began to exceed 100 MPH, at which time the pursuit was terminated.
04-07-2020 - 12:10 PM – Patrols, along with Glen Rock Fire Fighters, responded to the right-of-way adjacent to Hamilton School on a reported brush fire caused by a blown transformer. Crews from PSE&G worked with firefighters to make the scene safe and extinguish the fire without incident. There were no injuries.
04-08-2020 - 11:33 AM – A Glen Rock man reported that he had become the victim of an online gift card scam. The man reported that he received an email from an individual impersonating his employer. The email requested that he purchase $2,000 worth of AMEX gift cards to be distributed to employees as a bonus. The man purchased the cards, as instructed, and emailed the card and pin numbers to the email address of his purported employer. When he was requested to obtain additional gift cards the victim suspected that this was a scam and notified police. The detective bureau is currently investigating.
04-09-2020 - 2:45 PM – A house on the 300 block of Ackerman Avenue was struck by a county shade tree. Two attic windows were broken and some damage to the roof was apparent. No injuries were reported. A Bergen County work crew was dispatched to remove the tree.
