GLEN ROCK, NJ - A 20-year-old Paterson man allegedly broke into at least one unlocked car in Glen Rock and may have entered more on a route from Paterson to Ridgewood and back.
On Feb. 7, just after midnight, Fair Lawn Police arrested the man as he was heading back to Paterson along Prospect Street to Fair Lawn Avenue. Meanwhile, Glen Rock Police had determined an unlocked vehicle had been entered while parked in a resident’s driveway on the 500 block of Prospect Street. Police said several items were removed from the vehicle including "a Gucci purse containing a wallet, just under $500 in cash, credit cards and personal identification, a cell phone, sunglasses, gaming cartridges, as well as shoes and clothing which had been left in the vehicle."
Some of these items and others were found on the man who told police he rode his bicycle from Paterson to Ridgewood along Maple Avenue and was heading back to Paterson along Prospect Street to Fair Lawn Avenue when he was stopped by police.
Police said they believe additional vehicles may have been entered, however, no other reports have been filed, nor did a canvas of the area by officers detect any evidence of additional vehicles having been entered. Glen Rock Police were able to locate some of the victim’s property which had been dumped in a trash can at the bus stop located at Prospect Street and Cornwall Road.
Residents with home video surveillance systems are asked to contact Glen Rock Detectives if they captured any images of a male subject attempting to enter vehicles along Maple Avenue or Prospect Street. Detectives may be contacted at (201) 670-3947 or 3948.
