FLEMINGTON, NJ – The arrest of the borough’s Animal Control Officer has led officials here to assign that work to Madison-based St. Hubert’s Animal Welfare Center.
Saul Nathan “Nate” Barson, 29, was arrested by Solebury (Pa.) police Feb. 20 and charged with sexually assaulting a 13-year-old boy on Feb. 3.
Barson worked for Animal Control & Investigative Services in Lambertville, which was under contract with the borough for its animal services. Before breaking its contract with Animal Control & Investigative Services, officials first explored whether they could continue with the company if it could provide another person to do the work.
Barson was also the Animal Control officer in Raritan Township. Officials there chose to have the similarly-named Animal Control Solutions take over Barson’s duties. That company is based in Flemington.
Flemington’s stray animals will be brought to St. Hubert’s Animal Welfare Center in North Branch on Route 22 in Somerville.
