MORRISTOWN, NJ - When treated in its earliest stages, the five-year survival rate for ovarian cancer is more than 90 percent. Unfortunately, only 15 percent of cases are found at this early stage due to ovarian cancer's non-specific symptoms and lack of available early detection tests.

When discovered at a more advanced stage, the ovarian cancer survival rate can be as low as 18 percent.

The Women's Cancer Center at Carol G. Simon Cancer Center at Morristown and Overlook medical centers, is evaluating periodic blood tests that may be helpful in the early detection of ovarian cancer.

September 25, 2017

To the editor:

In 2015, more than 33,000 people in the U.S. died of an opioid overdose.
