FLEMINGTON, NJ – The borough’s new beer garden is on track for a “soft opening” on July 1.
That news comes from the Flemington Community Partnership, the group designated by the borough to replace the “de-designated” Business Improvement District board.
To help prepare the site, volunteers from Lowe’s will begin work next week at the former Hineline gas station on Main Street. When the project is complete, it will be called The Flemington Filling Station – a name chosen after FCP held an online survey seeking suggestions.
The beer garden is expected to be open from 5 to 10 p.m. Fridays and Saturdays through Sept. 24.
According to a press release from the FCP, the group is working with Lowe's “to finalize the scope of the Lowe’s Heroes project and finalizing the colors of the building,” which will be white with blue and red striping, as it was originally. The organizers still need to fine-tune the location of benches, garden boxes and picnic tables.
The FCP praised Lowe’s assistant store manager Pete Staples and his team who “have been incredibly responsive and passionate about the Patio.”
Ernie Fletcher of Fletcher and Sons Electrical Services has volunteered his time and effort to set up electricity at the patio for lighting.
The FCP is still working to make arrangements with liquor vendors. It is reaching out -- one by one -- to local restaurants/liquor license holders to invite them to be featured at the Filling Station. Stephen Little of Central Wine Merchants has signed on to be the featured liquor vendor on July 1, 8, 22 and 29.
