To the editor:
I was dismayed to see my 2014 news reportage inaccurately weaponized by council members Marc Hain and Brooke Warden in their campaign flier attacking Al Brewer. The headline “School security at issue: Flemington-Raritan board member accused of leaking secrets” is less than a half-truth, given the ensuing revelation.
Marc and Brook ignored my follow-up report in the Hunterdon County Democrat newspaper, written after I'd gotten a look at the supposedly secret Security Action Plan that was the bone of contention. Its contents were pretty much what the Flem-Rar school district had already posted on its website for anyone to see. The follow-up headline referred to a “nonsecret security plan.”
The whole thing was a made-up scandal perpetrated by school board member Anna Fallon in order to disgrace Mr. Brewer. I was her unwitting tool. And this spring Marc and Brooke dredged it up, compounding the deception and adding their personal touch to it. They won the primary election, but not in a way to be proud of.
