READINGTON, NJ – A township woman has been arrested after she crashed her vehicle and fled the scene on foot yesterday, police said.

Police here were dispatched to the School Road and Whitehouse Avenue intersection around 5:30 p.m. yesterday on a report of the crash. Police said that as they responded, they were told the woman had left the scene.

Police said they identified the driver as Rose Volturo, 44, of Whitehouse Station. Police said they found her at her home, where she was placed under arrest by Cpl. James Ayotte.

Volturo was charged with driving while intoxicated and resisting arrest. She was also given motor vehicle summonses charging her with failure to report a motor vehicle accident, leaving the scene of a motor vehicle crash, careless driving and driving while suspended.

Volturo was released from police custody to a sober adult.
