RARITAN TWP., NJ – An Irvington man has been arrested after authorities say he sold heroin to a man that later fatally overdosed on the drug.
The arrest follows what Hunterdon County Prosecutor Anthony P. Kearns, III called in a press release “an intensive four-month investigation.”
Christopher T. Brown, 38, was charged Friday with first-degree strict liability for drug induced death.
According to the press release, the investigation revealed that on March 25, Brown traveled to an Oak Grove Road home here and sold an undisclosed amount of heroin to the victim, who later died.
“The Hunterdon County Prosecutor’s Office will continue to vigorously investigate all overdose deaths and bring those responsible to justice,” Kearns said.
Kearns reported earlier that there has been a spike in heroin overdoses in Hunterdon.
The press release was issued jointly by Kearns, his Chief of Detectives John J. Kuczynski and Raritan Township Police Chief Glenn Tabasko. The investigation was by the prosecutor’s Gangs, Guns, & Narcotics Task Force and Raritan Township Police Department.
