Flemington Man Arrested at Middle School

READINGTON, NJ – A Flemington man was arrested Tuesday at Readington Middle School by Patrol Officer Jason Phares.

Police said school staff alerted them that the man – who is an employee of the school district - was seen removing an item from the school and placing it in his personal vehicle.

The item was a box of candy wrapped as a Christmas gift.

Phares arrested Peter Marro, 56, around 11 a.m. and charged him with theft. The candy was valued at about $50, police said.

According to school records, Marro was hired as a custodian for the school in 2014 at an annual salary of $35,220.

Marro was released without bail pending appearance in Municipal Court.
