FLEMINGTON, NJ – A 29-year-old borough man has been arrested and charged with two counts of second-degree sexual assault and two counts of third-degree endangering the welfare of a child.
Carlos M. Hernandez-Escobar was arrested after a joint investigation conducted by the Hunterdon County Prosecutor’s Office Special Victims Unit and police from Raritan Township and here, according to a press release.
An investigation by detectives revealed that Hernandez-Escobar had sexual contact with a juvenile victim when the victim was under the age of 13, the release states, and the assaults occurred in both the township and the borough in 2015.
Hernandez-Escobar was taken to Somerset County Jail, and then transferred into Immigration and Customs Enforcement custody.
The press release was issued jointly by Hunterdon County Prosecutor Anthony P. Kearns, III, Flemington Police Chief Jerry Rotella and Raritan Township Police Chief Glenn Tabasko.
