When Karen Monroy, Ph.D., of Flemington researched possible job training options for her son after he aged out of school, she didn’t find the type of programs she was seeking. So she started Ability2Work, a non-profit organization that provides a fully inclusive and supportive business environment for those that are differently-abled with the support of professionals, parents and concerned community members.
Today Ability2Work helps young people have meaningful lives with jobs they love by teaching skills in a nurturing environment where they can thrive. Any visit to Flemington should include a stop at Grateful Bites, the award-winning cafe and bakery operated by Ability2Work!
Nominate an “Unsung New Jersey Hero” like Dr. Karen Monroy for the 2020 Russ Berrie Making A Difference Award. Up to 10 people will be selected for awards ranging from $7,500 up to $50,000. Learn more and nominate online at berrieawards.ramapo.edu. Deadline is February 21.
