Guilty Plea Follows Women's Prison Indictments

FLEMIGNTON, NJ – One of the officers indicted on charges of sexual assault and official misconduct at their jobs at Edna Mahan Correctional Facility in Clinton has pled guilty.

Thomas Seguine, 34, of Phillipsburg, pled guilty to official misconduct and is scheduled for sentencing on April 21, according to a press release issued by Hunterdon County Prosecutor Anthony P. Kearns, III.

Seguine was one of four charged in the indictments. Mahan is the only women’s prison in the state.

The remaining officers, Jason Mays, 43 of Hillside; Ahnwar Dixon, 38, of East Orange; and Brian Y. Ambroise, 33, of Union were arraigned on Feb. 3.

When he announced the indictments, Kearns said the sexual abuse “compromises the safety and security of prisons in general because it leads to a weakening of authority ... which gives way to other dangers.”

Kearns said his office “will continue to vigorously pursue and prosecute those that violate the public trust.”
