GARWOOD, NJ - Heart Songs for Veterans is hosting a benefit concert to salute US veterans and to raise money for Operation Shoebox New Jersey at Crossroads, 78 North Ave. beginning at 7 p.m. on Veterans' Day, Nov. 11.
Heart Songs for Veterans was founded in 2013 by Jill Pavel of South Plainfield.
Artists from across the Nation donate their digital royalties from their music and they volunteer their time and performances to support various veteran charities. The event will feature performances by Nashville Recording Artists Scott DeCarlo & Cory Singer, along with crowd favorites Friday’s Child, Doubleday & Joanne Calabrese and other special guests.
The master of ceremonies will be Matt Burrill formerly of Redneck Radio (The Bronc) and will be live broadcast by The Gator Show “The Gator” of Indie Rock 101 and Republic News 101.
There is a $10 donation at the door, with 100 percent of all proceeds donated to Operation Shoebox New Jersey, a volunteer, non-profit organization founded in February 2005. Since then, the organization has shipped more than 134,000 personal care packages to U.S. troops deployed around the world.
Each package shipped overseas contains a variety of personal care items, snacks, fod, cards and letters from kids and other assorted items. The packages are assembled by volunteers at packing events held throughout the year. The next packing will be at the YMCA in Hillsborough, 19 East Mountain Rd., beginning at 11 a.m., Dec. 2. Everyone is welcome; children are encouraged to participate. There are no age restrictions.
"We are committed to sending packages overseas as long as there is a need," said Rod Hirsch, founder and executive director.
Crossroads will be serving a special menu along with patriotic inspired cocktails. For more information contact: Jill Pavel email@example.com or Crossroads at 908-232-5666.
