Hunterdon Central Hockey: Red Devils Upset by Watchung Hills Warriors

FLEMINGTON, NJ - Watchung Hills upset the Hunterdon Central Red Devils in a shootout, 1-0 after playing to a 3-3 tie in the NJSIAA/Devils Public A state tournament at Flemington Ice Arena on Friday.

Watchung Hills goalie Ryan McHugh stopped all five Hunterdon Central shootout attempts and after a scoreless OT, Michael Brady slapped in the lone goal in the shootout for Watchung Hills.

McHugh stopped 43 shots on goal for the Warriors. Noah Dominick saved 25 for the Red Devils.

Watchung Hills scored first on a first period goal from Zach Lindewirth with a David Roushdy assist at 12:53,  and one from Matt Piro in the second period on a Zach Giamundo, Zach Lindewirth assist at 10:17.

The Red Devils took the lead on goals from Scott Schnell and two from Sasha Pace.

Piro sent the game to OT after scoring his second goal of the game for Watchung Hills on a Zach Lindewirth assist at 3:05.

Watchung Hills face either Livingston or Morristown in the quarterfinals on Monday.

There are those of us in Hunterdon County that are still without power almost one week past the first storm. JCP&L has repeatedly changed the time and date of restoration. The spokesman flat-out lied to you when he said all 10,000 customers in Hunterdon would have power restored by Wednesday at 10:30 p.m.
