FLEMINGTON, NJ - The Hunterdon County Freeholder Board approved the proclamation of the week of Sept. 21 through Sept. 27 as “National Diaper Need Awareness Week” in Hunterdon County.

Meagan O’Reilly, administrator of the Hunterdon County Department of Human Services, explained the national Diaper Awareness campaign for those in need of diaper supplies for families, and how the county is supporting the encouragement of donations. O’Reilly noted that there is no current government-supported diaper supply program.

“It is important for us to recognize the need, especially in our community," she said. "A lot of times people who cannot afford diapers rely on local organizations, including the Flemington Food Pantry and the United Way of Hunterdon County (4 Walter Foran Boulevard, Suite 401 in Flemington) and they are continuously seeking donations."

"It is encouraging to know that through the pandemic and difficult economic times where people are struggling to pay bills and put food on the table and buying diapers, there are these local resources that will need donations,” she added.
