RARITAN TWP., NJ – Hunterdon County Freeholder John E. Lanza has been charged with driving while intoxicated, according to a press release this afternoon from Raritan Township police.

Lanza, 42, lives in the township and is not only a Freeholder, but is an attorney and has been the municipal prosecutor in East Amwell and Delaware Townships.

According to police, they were dispatched to Milestone Drive around 5:17 p.m. Aug. 5 on the report of an unresponsive man in a vehicle.

Patrol Officers Connor Gallagher and Dustin Pflug “entered the vehicle to gain access to Lanza,” police said, who they found unresponsive. Flemington-Raritan Rescue also responded, and took Lanza to Hunterdon Medical Center for evaluation, the release states.

Lanza’s law office is on Main Street in Flemington. His web site states that he is an alternate municipal prosecutor in South Plainfield, Piscataway and South Amboy.

TAPinto Flemington filed a request for documents in the case a week ago, and is waiting for the township’s response to that request.
