The Hunterdon Strong Community Challenge is one in which the 26 municipalities within Hunterdon County challenge each other to raise money in support of the community. The money raised is part of a larger fundraising effort called Hunterdon Strong which will culminate in a live broadcast Telethon on November 19th and is sponsored by Shop-Rite of Hunterdon County. This overall effort supports 12 non-profits within the county equally.
The participating organizations are:
· America's Grow-A-Row
· Family Promise of Hunterdon County
· Flemington Area Food Pantry
· Hunterdon County First Responders
· Hunterdon County YMCA
· Hunterdon Healthcare Foundation
· Hunterdon Helpline
· Meals on Wheels in Hunterdon
· Safe in Hunterdon
· United Way of Hunterdon County
The competition will kick off on Wednesday, September 23, 2020 and end on Friday, November 13, 2020. People will make donations on a website that has been created specifically for this event. When making a donation, all donors will need to manually input their municipality. There will be two first-place prizes of $2,000 each, and two-second place prizes of $500 each, that the municipalities will be competing for. The two categories for the competition are:
1. The municipality with the most money raised per capita
2. The municipality with the most participation per capita
The prize money will be donated to the schools within the winning municipalities.
