FLEMINGTON, NJ – A new “superceding indictment” has been handed up by a Hunterdon County Grand Jury in the ongoing claims of misconduct at the state’s only women’s prison.
Ahnwar Dixon, 39, of East Orange, has been indicted on one count of second-degree sexual assault, three counts of second-degree official misconduct, five counts of fourth-degree criminal sexual conduct and one count of second-degree pattern of official misconduct.
The new indictment was sought after an ongoing investigation revealed a third victim was assaulted by the defendant, according to a press release from Hunterdon County Prosecutor Anthony P. Kearns, III.
The assault is alleged to have happened at Edna Mahan Correctional Facility in Clinton Township.
Dixon was previously arrested in 2016, and later indicted on one count of second-degree sexual assault, two counts of second-degree official misconduct, one count of second-degree pattern of official misconduct, and three counts of fourth-degree criminal sexual contact.
A joint investigation by Kearns’ office and the state Department of Correction Special Investigations Division revealed that Dixon was employed as a Corrections Officer when he engaged in a sexual relationship with inmates at Edna Mahan, Kearns said.
Dixon has been suspended from his position with the state Department of Corrections since his arrest.
