To the editor:

My name is Joyce Santos and I am the Democratic candidate for Raritan Township Committee. I accepted a buy out from Brother International in January 2016. I was the Director of Marketing and in my last years there I worked mainly with the International Subsidiaries helping them with strategies and developing new products.

My goals for the committee include improving transparency. The last meeting minutes posted were from January 2017. Our township residents deserve better. The current committee has also de-funded the open space program which I think is vital to our community. We need to have funds available to purchase land that becomes available when it is the right property at the right price. We also need to improve our local economy so that seniors and our young people can afford to stay in the community. We need both for a healthy economy.

I ask the township residents to please remember to vote on Nov. 7. I also want to thank my many supporters.

Best regards,

Joyce Santos, Raritan Township

The Psychology Behind My Vote for Peter Jacob

To the editor:

Maslow's hierarchy of needs is a motivational theory in psychology comprising a five-tier model of human needs. Maslow stated that our most basic need is for physical survival, and this will be the first thing that motivates our behavior. Once that level is fulfilled the next level up is what motivates us, and so on.
