“Each of these candidates has demonstrated leadership and exemplary commitment in the community and at St. Magdalen’s in activities ranging from Youth Group to Bible Camp counselor to the Columbian squires to altar servers,” said the Knights in a press release.

The scholarship was established by then-Grand Knight Bernie Olszyk in 2003 to recognize outstanding young people in St. Magdalen’s parish. The scholarships recognize those young members of the community who best exemplify a commitment to their community and their Catholic faith.

Over the last two decades, the local council has donated more than $20,000 in scholarships.

The Knights of Columbus are the world’s largest fraternal organization with 1.7 million members worldwide. Over the last 10 years, the Knights have contributed more than $1.4 billion towards charitable efforts.
