LAMBERTVILLE, NJ - With polls closing in New Jersey’s primary elections at 8 p.m., unofficial early results from the Office of the Hunterdon County Clerk show newcomer Andrew Nowick with 678 votes to former mayor David Del Vecchio’s 626 in the Lambertville Democratic mayoral primary.

There is no Republican race in the city to run for mayor.

There are still many mail-in ballots to be counted, as well as provisional ballots, before the results can be officially certified, meaning the election results are still very much up in the air.

Del Vecchio campaign manager Meagan Warner said the campaign will wait for the official results.

“We are going to wait until every vote is counted,” she said. “We’re going to honor the process and honor the results.”

Before polls closed, Nowick said he was planning to wait until the results were official before making any public comment.

This year, the county posted 369 votes in the city before polls closed, which could include mail-in ballots as well as early voting.
