FLEMINGTON, NJ -  Crown Trophy of Flemington received four awards at this year's annual franchisee meeting held in Austin, Texas.

Owner Jim Gano and his son Brandon were first called up to receive the Sales and Marketing award for achieving sales growth over a pre-determined limit set by Crown Trophy headquarters in Hawthorne, New York.  This is the fifth time in their seven year history that the Flemington store has received this award.

Next, the Flemington store was one of four stores to be inducted into the $100,000 club this year for sales exceeding that threshold in one month.

In addition to these awards the Gano’s also became members of Crown Trophy’s Gold Club for exceeding sales for the year at a pre-determined level established by Crown’s Management. “I get singled out a lot when we are recognized,” Gano said, “but I believe Brandon deserves most of the credit for his work and our growth in the sign and custom imprinted apparel divisions this year.”

Gano, a Bridgewater resident, was singled out for the Ben April Award so named in honor of a Crown Trophy franchise owner from Ballwin, Missouri who passed away two years ago.

“Ben was both a friend and a mentor to me. He introduced me to many vendors at the ARA show and would call me often to share ideas or to offer advice when I was first starting out. I miss Ben every day and this award means more to me than any award I have ever received in my career,” Gano said. Crown Trophy Founder Chuck Weisenfeld said of Gano, “Jim is a lot like Ben, he Is always there for our other stores and headquarters staff offering encouragement, support and advice. He has consulted with a few stores which has helped them to grow their business as well.”

Gano added, “I have had a lot of success in my career and feel it would be selfish of me not to share what has worked for me with others. One store owner recently wrote me after I had helped them grow their business by over twenty-five percent a great note that read, ‘We have gone from not knowing how we are going to keep doing this to how are we going to get all this done. Thank you.’ To me that makes it all worth it.”

Also during the conference Brandon Gano was elected to the Crown Trophy Advisory Council in which he will represent about 15 stores nationwide to air their concerns directly to Crown’s corporate management team.

Jim Gano also shares his business knowledge on his weekly radio show Takin’ Care of Business which airs every Thursday at noon at www.hunterdonchamberradio.com. When not working in his store or on his radio show Gano also serves on the Boards of Directors of the Hunterdon County Chamber of Commerce and the newly formed Flemington Community Partnership.

Crown Trophy of Flemington specializes in awards, promotional products, varsity jackets and has recently become known locally as a provider of signage of all types and custom imprinted apparel. The store is located in the Hunterdon Shopping Center at 33 Reaville Avenue.

A Man of 'Deep Pockets, Sterling Character'

June 19, 2018

To the editor:

At a meeting of Flemington Borough Council earlier this year, Mayor Phil Greiner described Jack Cust as a man of “deep pockets and sterling character.” He seemed to be attempting to justify his basis for selecting a new redeveloper, after the first two selected by a committee he was part of, or led, failed at the project. Initially the project was to find someone to ...

End 'Gun Free Zones,' Harden Soft Targets

To the editor:

In response to the Governor's recent signing of legislation restricting law-abiding gun owners to 10 rounds of ammunition and rejecting calls to address the uneven playing field existing vis-à-vis some single mom alone with her child fending for herself against some armed assailant packing who knows how many rounds is something a Politburo thug would appreciate! The ...

With more than 5 million Americans now living with Alzheimer’s and with more than 15 million acting as caregivers, Alzheimer’s has become the nation’s most expensive disease. This year alone, it will cost $277 billion to take care of those stricken. The Alzheimer’s Association predicts that, by 2050, more than 14 million Americans will be ...

Candidates 'Weaponized' News Article

To the editor:

I was dismayed to see my 2014 news reportage inaccurately weaponized by council members Marc Hain and Brooke Warden in their campaign flier attacking Al Brewer. The headline “School security at issue: Flemington-Raritan board member accused of leaking secrets” is less than a half-truth, given the ensuing revelation.

Marc and Brook ignored my follow-up report in ...
