BRIDGEWATER, NJ - A 52-year-old New York man drowned in the Raritan River near Duke Island Park Wednesday in what appeared to be an accident, according to Bridgewater Township Police.
Fermin Franco was pronounced dead shortly after midnight July 5 at Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital in Somerset.
Police were called at 4:04 p.m. Wednesday responding to a report of a possible drowning, entered the river near Duke Island Park and recovered Franco.
Officers began CPR and all lifesaving protocols before Bradley Gardens Fire Department, Bradley Gardens Rescue Squad and Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital Paramedics arrived and continued providing aid until Franco was taken to the hospital.
The incident is still under investigation.
