RARITAN TWP., NJ – Skunktown Distillery is planning to open later this year and preparations are already well underway.

The distillery is the work of founders Caine Fowler and Paul Hyatt. They chose the name to honor the origins of their hometown of Sergeantsville, which was originally named Skunktown. The distillery will be located at 12 Minneakoning Road here.

The distillery will focus on craft liquors, but another of its goals is to help local farmers by buying raw, non-GMO ingredients mainly from them. The distillery will use eco-conscious methods to mill the ingredients and use them to produce rum, vodka, whiskey and moonshine for sale in its tasting room.

Skunktown Distillery plans for its products to also be available at local liquor stores, bars and restaurants. It plans an opening weekend that will offer tours of the distillery, tastings of its craft liquors and a chance to meet the owners and master distillers.

As the final stages of their project, Fowler and Hyatt have established a crowd funding effort at kickstarter.com.
